Working from home may be the new order of the day but it is unknown for many. As IT professionals battle new priorities and task groups, workers confront an entirely new world of efficiency. This can present a variety of challenges, particularly given that this new situation has arisen rapidly for many employees, and one of the major challenges many staff face is how their own PC equipment can be managed and maintained without IT support on site.
Broken, compromise and malfunctioning equipment can also reveal confidential organizational data, not only having an effect on how efficient you can be but no longer getting data protection at IT level. The IT team of BS System Solutions has some useful guidance that will help you remain healthy and efficient at home.

Avoid Spills and Clean Carefully
It is even harder in an uncertain homework setting, but you have to take extra care not to dump something into your laptop over time. Not only rapid liquid damage, but also sometimes permanent serious damage. Wipe it gently off with a moisturized cloth if you need to clean your laptop or keyboard. If you want to destroy germs you have to know that the cleaning fluids can never be sprayed directly to the PC monitor display panel, keyboard or close to the air vents or recessed button on the CPU (if you have a desktop machine).

Keep Your PC Steady and Breathing
Since most people do not have a dedicated home office, you are likely to walk about in unusual spaces and use your PC (especially a laptop). Find stability of work areas that won’t let the laptop fall off if you move away immediately to avoid accidents. Try also to pick ventilation surfaces. It is something that people frequently forget about laptops and similar devices: for example, the computer is at risk of overheated when the cooling fan of your laptop is not operable correctly because the system is mounted over large fabrics. This can lead to a system crash or other issues, like data loss.

Watch Those Power Levels
If you decide not to always leave your laptop plugged in in an area, keep an eye on your battery meter. This is because you know, definitely, when it’s time for your power adaptor to be plugged in or moved, but also a matter of reliability. An accidental power shutdown will damage the OS and make it difficult for a machine to boot properly. This (a would probably never happen at the office, but (b) if you did, you might right there have an IT professional to tweak your operating system or even to reimage your PC in a safe condition. However, it can be very difficult at home for companies who are free from an equipment depot they can quickly reach in this case to swap their current PC for a new one. At home

Keep Your Wireless Network Secure
With such a rise in people working from home, it is important for people to realize that corporations are suddenly becoming more reliant on home and mobile Wi-Fi. In other words, IT can not only be used for consumer wireless routers and how these can be set up, but also for all sorts of wireless hosts, from cell phones to gaming consoles. Make sure you connect to the proper house wireless network and make sure your router is safe (sometimes difficult for crowded environments, like a building for apartments). Avoid links to neighboring networks which may be unprotected or used by potentially unsafe hosts.

Don’t Forget to Lock Your Screen
You should always remember to lock your screen when you want to move away when you quarantine with others (including small children and animals), even if it’s only for a few minutes. These days we’re all at home and it is worth taking another moment to keep your beloved pet from unintentionally sending the entire office an unfinished note.
